Supporting Children and Young People
SupportLine provides emotional support, advice and information to children and young people throughout the UK through their telephone helpline, email, website and postal support.
The service helps those who are vulnerable, isolated and at risk. SupportLine helps to support young people on many issues which include child abuse, bullying, eating disorders, self harm, family and personal relationships, bereavement, domestic violence, anxiety and depression. SupportLine helps young people to increase their self esteem and confidence and to recognize and focus on their strengths and abilities to enable them to be able to cope more easily with difficulties they may face in their lives. Feedback has shown that the service really can make a difference to young people's lives.
The Barbara Ward Children's Foundation awarded a three-year grant to SupportLine to run from 2009 to 2011. This grant will help to provide a firm financial base for the charity which has seen an increasing number of children making contact, often through word of mouth referrals. SupportLine is a classic example of the smaller charities that play such a vital role in assisting those most at risk in Society.
