Adventure Unlimited

Adventure Unlimited's mission is to support the development of disadvantaged young people through adventure education. Since 1977 they have successfully provided outdoor education to around 6,000 young people each year in Brighton & Hove, Sussex and Surrey. They ensure activities are accessible including providing one-to-one support, transport and subsidised places. They believe in every young person's potential to grow, and in the power of adventure education for learning about trust, responsibility and risk. Adventure Unlimited were delighted to receive an offer of a grant over three years from the Barbara Ward Children's Foundation starting in 2012, giving some stability to the disadvantaged families that they support who are facing lots of uncertainly in the current economic climate.

In the past year Adventure Unlimited have been particularly proud to provide indoor climbing club places at the Rock Court, for disadvantaged young people situated in one of the UK's top 1% most deprived areas, together with 10 ‘Wild Things' programmes, where 74% of children and 89% of parents noticed improved ability to cope with their challenges. They also provided many opportunities for looked-after children to access adventure activities, as well as influence decision-makers, and this year they won an Award in recognition of their work! In addition to these activities Adventure Unlimited have introduced a new after-school programme for disadvantaged young people referred by schools in deprived areas.
